Disability Rights Program Manager

Photo of Esme GrantEsmé Grant manages USICD's Disability Rights Program.  She oversees the CRPD Education and Advocacy Initiative and works on issues including disability inclusiveness in foreign development and promotion of disability rights within the U.S. Human Rights Reports and treaty reports.

Esmé has past appointments with the ABA Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law and currently sits on the American Branch of International Law Association’s Disability Committee.  She is currently co-chair of the International Task Force for the Consortium of Citizens with Disabilities.  Esmé attended the University of California, Davis where she obtained degrees in French and International Relations and received her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco where she earned a public interest specialization, focusing her studies on cross-disability issues.  Esmé is a licensed attorney with the California Bar Association.

Before coming to USICD, Esmé worked with the San Francisco Mayor’s Office on Disability where she had the opportunity to participate in implementation of the City’s ADA Transition Plan.  She also led the disability program at GGU School of Law and received a faculty scholarship to research specific barriers to the law profession for minorities with disabilities.  She has published with the American Association of Law Schools' Learning Curve, American University's Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law and has an upcoming publication with UC Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal.
