USICD Teleconference Convening of CRPD Ratification Advocates

Thursday, March 11, 2010- Thursday, March 11, 2010
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

In USICD's continuing series of advocate teleconferences in support of U.S. ratification of the CRPD, this presentation will provide a brief update of recent ratification progress at the beginning of the call, and then present an in-depth review of Articles 1 through 9 in the treaty.

Articles 1 through 9, along with the treaty's preamble, encapsulate the overall vision and spirit of the CRPD.  While all of the articles in the CRPD are interrelated, these articles are the most generally applicable to all other substantive obligations outlined in the treaty.  Their resonance with existing U.S. disability rights standards provides a welcoming entry point for gaining more in-depth knowledge of the CRPD.  USICD staff will provide an update of the status of the CRPD in the process toward ratification at the beginning of the call.
